Having been on Gmail/Googlemail since 2005, I decided it was time for a change to something more decent (and less nosey). I’ve had a free account with Proton Mail for ages, but have now gone the whole hog and got a paid-for account.
Took a little getting used to, but, after a couple of days, I can say it all feels so much better. I’ve got most of my Gmail stuff moved across (via multiple export/imports to EML files rather than forwarding so that email headers don’t get silly). With the bonus of clearing out a whole gig of never-to-be-read-again email). Unexpectedly, I’ve still not yet reached the 500Mb limit for a free account! But (a) time will up that, and (b) the extra bells-and-whistles with a paid-for account are excellent.
