Belatedly realised that I have free access to Proton Pass password manager, along with the ability to use a “fake” email address it offers when registering to a site (so as not to expose my real address). I’ve been using 1Password for some time, and it’s been absolutely fine – but it is subscription-based, so I decided to see if Proton Pass is an acceptable substitute.
And it does appear to be. SImple to install all the logins from 1Password – apart from a few notes which are just product keys, but these were added manually later. The only downside is that it runs in “dark mode”, and I hate that! Others have complained about not being able to choose a light mode, but Proton have not yet got round to sorting it. I still have 1Password till April next year, so I’ll not uninstall or cancel it yet, just not use it while I make sure Proton Pass can handle everything I want.
