Having plumped for Tracklogs and discounted Memory Map, I realised it would still be nice to have OS25 maps for the whole of GB. I found that Memory Map do them for 40% of the Tracklogs price and available immediately as a download! So I now have a pukka install of Memory Map…
MM is rather faffy to get set up, and V6 has changed significantly from my V5 version. Not least, gone are the .mmo files and it now uses .gpx which I like. So, as far as documentation goes, I will now use TL for map and route card, and MM for more accurate stats.
MM is available as an app, but I then found out that Viewranger beats it hand down – and that is chargeable… But I’ve got a 7-day trial and it looks like it might be well worth the £24.99 annual fee for full OS25 GB + other goodies.
So now I’ll have Tracklog, Memory Map, Viewranger, and OS Maps (probably just for fly-throughs from the latter)…
Oh… and Alpinequest! That’s been good, but I think VR is better, and it means I can get rid of the MM maps that AQ used.
