1A WILLESDEN
The shed is on the west side of the main line just north of the station. The yard is partially visible from the line.
Leave Willesden Junction (L.M.R. and L.T.E.) Station by the approach road and turn left into Old Oak Lane. Turn first right into Goodhall Street and a path leads from the end to the shed. Walking time 5 minutes.

The shed is on the west side of the main line about l½ miles north of Euston Station. The yard is visible from the line.
Leave Chalk Farm (Northern Line) Station by the exit leading into Adelaide Road, and turn right into that road. Turn first left into Bridge Approach and continue into Regents Park Road, passing Primrose Hill Station on the left. After crossing the railway bridge turn left into Gloucester Avenue and left again into Dumpton Place. The shed entrance is at the end of this short cul-de-sac. Walking time 5 minutes.

Turn right outside the station along a footpath running parallel to the main line. turn right at the end into St. Alban’s Road. Immediately after crossing the bridge, descend a flight of steps on the right-hand side, and a cinder path leads from the bottom of the steps to the shed. Walking time 5 minutes.
1D DEVONS ROAD (BOW) (Diesel depot)
The shed is on the east side of the Bow-Poplar line south of Bow Station (closed). There is now no passenger service on this line.
Leave Bromley (by Bow) District Line Station by the exit leading into Devons Road and turn left. Continue into Brickfield Road and the shed entrance is a gate on the right—hand side opposite “The Beehive” public house. Walking time 5 minutes.
At certain times of the day the station exit into Devons Road is closed. At these times leave by the main exit and turn left along St. Leonard’s Road. Turn right into Devas Street and left at the end into Brickfield Road, proceeding as above. Walking time 10 minutes.

1E BLETCHLEY
The shed is on the west side of the main line just north of the station. The yard is visible from the main line.

LEIGHTON BUZZARD
The shed is on the east side of the line south of the station. The yard is visible from the line.

The shed is at the east side of Rugby Midland Station. The yard is partially visible from the line.
Turn left outside the station and left again under the railway bridge. There is a gate in a wooden fence on the right-hand side just past the bridge. A wooden ramp leads from this gate to the shed. Walking time less than 5 minutes.
The shed is in the fork of the main and Coventry lines south of the station. The yard is visible from the Coventry line.
Leave Nuneaton Trent Valley Station by the west exit into Broad Street. turn left almost immediately into Regent Street, left at the end into Wheat Street (Oaston Terrace) and almost immediately right into Glebe Road. Turn left at the end into a broad drive and proceed over a boarded crossing to the shed. Walking time l0 minutes.
The shed is on the north side of the Blisworth-Northampton Bridge Street line. The yard is visible from this line.
Proceed along the short approach road outside Northampton Castle Station, and turn right almost immediately at the traffic lights into St. Peters Way. Turn right at the end into Bridge Street, and continue into Cotton End. Cross over the level crossing by Bridge Street Station, turn right into St. Leonard’s Road and continue along Main Road parallel to the railway until a footbridge over the line is reached. This gives direct access to the shed. Walking time 30 minutes.
The shed is on the east side of the main line north of Woodford Halse Station. The yard is visible from the line.
Turn right outside Woodford Halse Station under the railway bridge. Turn left into a cinder path running parallel to the railway. The entrance to this path is between a block of houses and the railway. Continue along this path and cross the road at the end. Another cinder path leads from the opposite side of this road to the shed. Walking time 15 minutes.
Note.—A road for vehicular traffic leads to the shed from a point on the main road about 100 yards east of the cinder path.
5A CREWE NORTH
The shed is on the west side of the line at the north end of Crewe Station. The yard is visible from the Warrington and Chester lines.
A footbridge leads from the north end of No. 1 platform to the shed.
Alternative Route
Turn left outside the station into Nantwich Road, and first right into Pedley Street. Bear left with this road, and turn right immediately into an alleyway at the side of house No. 39. Turn right at the end into Station Street, and the shed entrance is at the end of this street. Walking time 5 minutes.
The shed is in the fork of the Stafford and Shrewsbury lines south of the station. The yard is partially visible from both lines.
Turn left outside the main entrance to the station. Turn first left into Gresty Road and continue into Gresty Lane. There is a gate on the left-hand side between the two railway over-bridges and a flight of steps just inside the gate. A cinder path leads from the top of these steps to the shed. Walking time 20 minutes.
CREWE (GRESTY LANE)
The shed is on the north side of the Shrewsbury line. The yard is visible from the line.
Leave Crewe Station by the main exit and turn left over the bridge. Turn first left into Gresty Road and continue into Gresty Lane. A cinder path leads to the shed from the right hand side of this lane, just before the railway over-bridges. Walking time 10 minutes.
Note.—The entrance to Crewe South shed is a few yards further on the opposite side of the lane.
DIESEL REPAIR DEPOT
The depot is on the west side of the line at the south end of the station. The yard is not visible from the line.
Turn left outside the station, and left again after a very short distance into a private road between the station, and the goods avoiding line. This leads past the parcels office to the depot. Walking time 5 minutes.
ELECTRIC DEPOT
The depot is on the south side of the Chester line about 1¼ miles from the station. The yard is partially visible from the main line.
Turn left outside the station into Nantwich Road, and right at the first set of traffic lights into Mill Street. Go under the railway bridge, and turn left into Oak Street. Continue into Wistaston Road, and the depot entrance is on the right-hand side about it mile further on, opposite Stewart Street. Walking time 25 minute
5C STAFFORD
The shed is on the west side of the line just north of the station. The yard is visible from the line.
Turn left outside the station along Railway Street. Turn left at the end of Railway Street over Castle Street Bridge. The shed entrance is on the left—hand side just past the bridge. Walking time 5 minutes.
The shed is situated at the junction of the Stoke—Stone, and Stoke-Uttoxeter lines south of the station. It is on both sides of the Stone line. The yard is visible from the line.
Turn right outside the station into Winton Square and first right along Glebe Street (under the railway bridge). Turn left along Wharf Street and left into City Road. Opposite Oldmill Street an archway labelled Robert Hyde & Son Ltd., will be seen on the right-hand side. Go through this archway and bear left in the works yard along a broad drive adjacent to the boundary wall. This leads to the shed. Walking time 15 minutes.
Note.—Locos will be found on both sides of the line.
The shed is in the middle of a triangle of lines, of which the station forms two sides. The yard is visible from the Derby line.
A cinder path leads to the shed from the eastern end of the down platform on the Stoke-Derby line. Walking time under 5 minutes.
The shed is on the north side of the Chester—Crewe line, east of Chester General Station. The yard is visible from this line.
Turn right outside Chester General Station and ascend the Bight of steps to Hoole Road turning right over the end of the station. Turn right again into Lightfoot Street and right at the end of this street into Station View (crossing the railway). Turn sharp left into Hoole Lane, re-crossing the railway. A cinder path leads to the shed from the right-hand side, just past the railway bridge. Walking time 25 minutes.
Note.—There is also an entrance in Shed Lane off A51.
The shed is on the south side of the Chester-North Wales main line about 3% miles west of Chester. The yard is visible from the line.
The shed entrance is on the west side of the Saltney to Queensferry road (B 5129) immediately south of the bridge over the North Wales main line, and about ¼ mile north of the junction with the Chester to Holywell road (A55). There is now no passenger station open within walking distance.
Board a Chester Corporation No. 1 (Saughall) or No. 13 (Eccleston Avenue) bus outside Chester General Station, and alight at the corner of City Road, and Foregate Street. Board a No. 5 or No. 6 (Saltney—Ring Road) bus at this point, and alight at Ring Road. Continue along the main road to Mold (A55) for about Q mile, and turn right along B5l29. The shed entrance is on the left just before the railway bridge.
The shed is at the end of a short spur on the west side of the Chester line about 1 mile south of Birkenhead Woodside Station. The top of the yard is visible from the line.
Turn left outside Birkenhead Woodside Station along Chester Street. Turn right into Grange Road and left into Argyle Street. Continue along Argyle Street South (past Birkenhead Central Station) and turn left into Mollington Street. The shed entrance is a door at the end of this cul-de-sec. Walking time Woodside 15 minutes, Central 5 minutes.

The shed is in the goods yard at the east side of Chester Northgate Station. The yard is not visible from the line.
A flight of steps leads from the east side of Northgate Station yard into the goods yard. A cobbled way leads round the perimeter of the goods yard to the shed. Walking time 5 minutes.
The shed is on the west side of the line north of Birkenhead North Station. The yard is partially visible from the line.
Turn right outside Birkenhead North Station into Station Road. Turn right into Wallasey Bridge Road and a path leads to the shed from the left-hand side just before the railway over-bridge. Walking time 5 minutes.
The shed is situated on a goods loop south of the station.
Turn sharp right outside the station into Conway Road and continue parallel with the line for about i mile. Turn right into Queens Road, and continue across the bridge over the main line. Turn right at the end of the bridge along a footpath running parallel to the railway. Bear left past the carriage shed to the engine shed. Walking time 15 minutes.
The shed is on the south side of the line, opposite Bangor Station. The yard is partially visible from the line.
Turn right out of the station yard down the hill and turn right at the bottom under the railway bridge. The shed entrance is a door in the wall on the right-hand side just past this bridge. Walking time is less than 5 minutes.
The shed is on the east side of the line just south of the station. The yard is visible from the line.
Take the main drive from the station and turn left at the top along London Road. Turn right into Wheston Street. This is a short cul-de—sac and the shed entrance is at the end. Walking time 5 minutes.
The shed is on the north side of the line, west of the station. The yard is visible from the line.
Go straight ahead outside the station into Bodfor Street. Turn left into Kinmel Street, left into Elwy Street and right into West Kinmel Street. Turn left into Ffynnongroew Road. The entrance to the shed is on the left-hand side. Walking time 10 minutes.
8A EDGE HILL
The shed is in a maze of lines east of the junction of the Edge Hill—Mossley Hill and Edge Hill—Broad Green lines. The yard is partially visible from these lines.
Turn right outside Edge Hill Station along Tunnel Road. Turn right into Wavertree Road changing to Picton Road. Turn left into Tiverton Street just past the railway over-bridge. A cinder path leads through a tunnel from the end of this road to the shed. Walking time 20 minutes.
Note.—The coal stage is separated from the rest of the yard by a bridge.

8B WARRINGTON (DALLAM)
The shed is on the west side of the main line about one mile north of Warrington Bank Quay Station. The yard is visible from the line.
Turn left outside Warrington Bank Quay Station into Parker Street and right into Sankey Street. Turn left into Horsemarket Street and continue into Winwick Street, passing Central Station on the right. Continue into Winwick Road and turn left into Kerfoot Street. Bear right over the railway bridge into Folly Lane and the shed entrance is on the left-hand side, just past the bridge. Walking time 30 minutes.
A bus service operates between Horsemarket Street and the end of Kerfoot Street.
ARPLEY
The shed is on a goods line at the south side of Arpley Station (closed).
Turn right outside Warrington Bank Quay Station into Parker Street and continue into Wilson Patten Street. Turn right at the end into Bold Street. Pass Arpley Station (closed) on the right and trn iirst right into a narrow road running along the side of the River Mersey. The shed entrance is a door on the right-hand side just past the railway over-bridge. Walking time 10 minutes.
8C SPEKE JUNCTION
The shed is in the triangle of the Allerton—Garston Docks—Ditton Junction lines. The yard is partially visible from each line.
Turn left outside Allerton (for Garston and Woolton) Station along Woolton Road. Turn left into Horrocks Avenue and left into Speke Road. Turn iirst left (after crossing the railway bridge) into Vineyard Street and continue under the railway bridge. A broad cinder path leads from the right-hand side to the shed. 8D WIDNES
The shed is in the fork of the Warrington and St. Helens goods lines east of Widnes South Station (closed).
Leave Widnes Central Station by the approach road leading into Ditton Road. Continue across the traffic lights into Croft Street, and after about 200 yards turn right into a very short cul de-sac. The shed entrance is on the left hand side. Walking time 5 minutes.
8E NORTHWICH
The shed is at the south side of the station. The yard is visible from the line.
Go straight ahead outside the station along the approach road. Turn sharp left into Middlewich Road and cross the railway bridge. The shed entrance is on the left, just past the railway bridge. Walking time 5 minutes.
8F SPRINGS BRANCH (WIGAN)
The shed is on the east side of the main line about one mile south of Wigan North Western Station. The yard is partially visible from the line.
Turn right outside Wigan North Western Station into Wallgate and turn right into King Street. Continue into Darlington Street and turn right into Warrington Lane. Continue along Warrington Road for about one mile and turn right into Morris Street. The shed entrance is at the end of this cul-de-sac. Walking time 30 minutes.
8G SUTTON OAK
The shed is on the east side of the line between Sutton Oak and Peasley Cross Stations, now both closed. The yard is visible from the line.
Turn left outside St. Helens Shaw Street Station, and first left into Warrington New Road, crossing the railway. Continue along Peasley Cross Lane, and turn left into Sutton Road (passing Peasley Cross Station on the left). Turn right into Baxters Lane and the shed entrance is on the right-hand side. Walking time 40 minutes.
St. Helens Corporation bus services Nos. 5, 5A, 5B and 6 operate from St. Helens (close to the station) to St. Helens Junction Station and pass the end of Baxters Lane. Proceed along this lane, and the shed entrance is on the left-hand side.
8H ALLERTON (Electric and diesel depot)
The shed is on the east side of the main line about ¼ mile south of Allerton (for Garston and Woolton) Station. The yard is visible from the line.

The shed is on the east side of the Stockport Edgeley line about 1½ miles south of Manchester Piccadilly Station. The yard is partially visible from the line.
Turn left outside the main entrance to Manchester Piccadilly Station into London Road, and continue into Downing Street and Ardwick Green South. Fork left into Hyde Road and after about one mile fork right into Redgate Lane. A cinder path leads to the shed from the right-hand side of this lane. Walking time 45 minutes.

9D BUXTON
The shed is on the east side of the L.N.W. Stockport line north of the station. The yard is partially visible from the line.
Turn left outside the Western platforms or right outside the Midland platforms of Buxton Station into the approach road. Continue through the large gates and along the goods yard road. turn left at the end into Charles Street. Turn left into Lightwood Road, and right just before the railway over-bridge into Hogshaw Villas Road. Turn left almost immediately into an opening. Go through the gate at the end and turn right along a cinder path. This leads along the top of an embankment to the shed. Walking time I5 minutes.
9E TRAFFORD PARK
The shed is on the north side of the line about one mile east of Trafford Park and Stretford Station. The yard is not visible from the line.
Turn right outside the west exit of Warwick Road Station. Go along Warwick Road and continue into Warwick Road North (crossing the main Chester Road). Turn left into Railwav Road and right along a cinder path opposite the end of Ravenswood Road. This path leads to the shed. Walking time 15 minutes.

The locomotives stand at the south side of Warrington Central Station. There is no shed building. Entrance is effected from the station platform.
9F HEATON MERSEY
The shed is at the south side of the fork of the Cheadle and Didsbury lines west of Tiviot Dale Station. The yard is partially visible from the line.
From Stockport Edgeley Station
Go straight ahead outside the station along Station Road and turn left into Wellington Road. Descend the flight of steps into Mersey Square, and proceed along Chestergate in a westerly direction. Continue along Brinksway and Stockport Road for about a mile. Turn right into Gorsey Bank Road and a cinder path leads from the right-hand side across a river to the shed. Walking time 30 minutes.
From Stockport Tiviot Dale Station
Turn left outside the station into Lancashire Hill and continue into Bridge Street. turn right into Great Underbank, continue into Chestergate, and continue as stated above. Walking time 35 minutes.
Note.—Bus service 39 (Cheadle) and 40 (Gatley) operate from Mersey Square past the end of Gorsey Bank Road.

Cross Gorton Road outside Reddish North Station and proceed along Station Road. Immediately after crossing the railway bridge turn right into a cinder path leading to Wayland Road. The shed entrance is on the right at the end of this path. Walking time 10 minutes.

Leave Carlisle Station by the main entrance and go straight ahead into Court Square. turn left along English Street and continue into Scotch Street and Rickergate. Cross. Eden Bridge and continue up Stanwix Bank. Turn left at the top along Etterby Street and continue along Etterby Scaur. Turn left at the top of the hill into Etterby Road. Leave Carlisle Station by the main entrance and go straight ahead into Court Square. Turn right into Botchergate and continue into London Road. Turn right into Tyne Street (just past the railway underbridge). This is a short cul—de-sac, and a cinder path leads to the shed from a gate at the end. Walking time 20 minutes.
The shed is on the west side of the Hawick line just north of the junction of the Silloth line. The yard is not visible from the line.
Leave Carlisle Station by the main entrance and continue into Court Square. Turn left into English Street and fork left into Castle Street. Turn left into Annetwell Street and cross Caldew Bridge. Continue along Bridge Street and Church Street. Fork right into Caldcotes and continue into Port Road and Newtown Road. A broad cinder path leads from the right-hand side of this road (opposite Raffles Avenue) to the shed. Walking time 35 minutes.

The shed is on the east side of the main line north of Leicester London Road Station. The yard is visible from the line.
Turn left outside Leicester London Road Station into London Road and first left into Conduit Street. Turn right at the end into Sparkenhoe Street and left almost immediately into Upper Conduit Street. Fork left into Upper Kent Street and turn left into Beal Street. The shed entrance is on the left-hand side, by the end of this road. Walking time 15 minutes.
MARKET HARBOROUGH
The shed is on the west side of the line north of the station. The yard is visible from the line.
Leave the station by the approach road and turn right under the railway bridge. Turn right again into Great Bowden Road and a cinder path leads to the shed from a gate on the right-hand side. Walking time 5 minutes.
15D COALVILLE
The shed is on the north side of Coalville (Town) Station. The yard is visible from the line.
Turn left outside the station over the level crossing. Turn left along a cinder path just past the crossing. This leads to the shed. Walking time less than 5 minutes.
15E LEICESTER CENTRAL
The shed is on the east side of the line, south of Leicester Central Station. The yard is not visible from the line.
Turn right outside Leicester Central Station along Great Central Street. Turn right into St. Nicholas Street and continue into Applegate Street. Turn right into West Bridge continue into Duns Lane and then Braunstone Gate. Continue into Narborough Road, and after some distance turn left into Hopefield Road, Continue into Marlow Road, cross the railway bridge at the end, and turn left into a cinder path running parallel to the line. This bears right under a bridge and to the shed. Walking time 30 minutes.
Leicester Corporation bus services No. 21 (Narborough Road), and No. 52 (Braunstone Lane) operate from High Street (city centre) over West Bridge past the end of Hopefield Road.
The shed is on the south side of the line west of Nottingham Midland Station. The yard is visible from the line.
Turn left outside Nottingham Midland Station along Carring- ton Street. Turn right almost immediately along Queens Bridge Road. Turn right along Waterway Street West and left at the end into Wilford Road. Turn right a few yards further on into Middle Furlong Road. The shed entrance is a gate on the right-hand side (past the shed buildings). Walking time 15 minutes.
The shed is on the east side of the line north of Kirkby-in-Ashfield East Station. The yard is visible from the line.
Turn left along Station Road at the south end of the station. turn left into Low Moor Road North and the shed entrance is on the left-hand side. Walking time 10 minutes.
The shed is between the G.N. Leen Valley Branch (closed to passenger traflic) and the main G.C. Nottingham—Staveley line, about 2½ miles north of Hucknall. At this point the Nottingham——Mansfield (M.R.), Leen Valley (G.N.) and Nottingham——Staveley (G.C.) lines are running parallel, and are close together. The actual position of the shed is 53.04.20.N; 01.12.50.W.
Follow the line north from Newstead Station for about 200 yards and then turn right past Newstead Colliery yard. Cross the level crossing by a closed station and bear right. The shed entrance is on the left-hand side a few yards further on. Walking time 5 minutes.
Trent bus service No. 61 operates from Nottingham (Mount Street) to Manslield (Stockwell Gate) and passes Newstead Village (a few minutes walk from the shed).
17A DERBY
The shed is at the south end of Derby Midland Station on the east side of the London line. The yard is visible from the London line and partially visible from the Burton line.
Cross Derby Midland Station yard into Midland Road. Turn left into Carrington Street, left into Nelson Street, and almost immediately right into Noble Street. Turn left into Hullard Street and a footbridge leads to the shed from the end of this cul-de-sac. Walking time 5 minutes.
17B BURTON
The shed is on the west side of the line south of the station. The yard is visible from the line.
Turn left outside the station along Borough Road. Turn left into Wellington Street and left into Shobnall Road. A cinder path leads to the shed from a gate on the right-hand side, just before the railway over-bridge. Walking time 15 minutes

17C ROWSLEY
The shed is on the west side of the line, between Darley Dale and Rowsley Stations. The yard is visible from the line.
Turn right outside Rowsley Station into the main Derby road (A6) and bear right with this road after crossing the railway bridge. Continue along this road parallel to the railway for almost a mile. Turn right into an opening by Rowsley South Junction Signalbox, and cross the boarded level crossing. Immediately after crossing the line turn left along a cinder path running parallel to the line. This leads to the shed. Walking time 30 minutes.
CROMFORD
The shed is close to the canal by the foot of the first incline on the Cromford and High Peak line. The approximate position is 53.05.50.N., 01.32.10.W. The shed may be approached by a short rough road running down a slope from the main Derby to Matlock Road (A6). This rough road is approximately 1¼} miles south of the cross roads in Cromford, and 1¾ miles north of Whatstandwell Station at a place marked on some maps as Highpeak Junction although it is ¾ mile north of the junction of the High Peak line and the Derby-Matlock line.
SHEEP PASTURE
The shed is on the south side of the High Peak line at the top of the first incline. The approximate position is 53.06.00.N., 01.33.00.W. There is no direct means of access to this shed from a public highway.
MIDDLETON TOP
The shed is at the top of the second incline on the Cromford and High Peak line. The approximate position is 53.05.30.N., Ol.35.l5.W. About 1¼ miles north of Wirksworth, and ½ mile south of Middleton village, the main Wirksworth to Bakewell Road passes under the second incline of the High Peak line. Slightly north of this bridge there is a cross roads, the other road running from Cromford to a point called Godfreyhole on the main Wirksworth to Ashbourne Road. This road to Godfreyhole also passes under the second incline at a point slightly higher than the Wirksworth to Bakewell Road. Just south of the bridge on the Godfreyhole Road, a rough road forks off to the right running up the hillside. After a few yards a second rough road meets the first one at right angles on the right-hand side. This leads to the shed.
The shed is on the west side of the main line between Long Eaton and Stapleford and Sandiacre Stations. The yard is partially visible from the line.
From Stapleford and Sandiacre Station
Turn left outside the station and left again almost immediately into a small goods yard. A cinder path runs parallel to the line from the end of this cobbled goods yard. The shed entrance is on the left-hand side. Walking time 15 minutes.
From Long Eaton Station
Turn right outside the station into Station Street. Turn right again into Cross Street and continue into Waverley Street. Turn left across The Green into Derby Road, and almost immediately right into Cranmer Street. Turn second right into Worrall Avenue and a cinder path leads parallel to the line from a gate at the end of this avenue. Continue along this path for about ½ mile, and the shed entrance is on the right-hand side. Walking time 30 minutes.
The shed is on the east side of the line, south of the station, adjacent to the Blackwell Colliery Branch. The yard is partially visible from the main line.
Turn left outside Westhouses and Blackwell Station along the main road. Turn left again after a short distance along a rough path (impassable for vehicles). This leads under the main line and the Blackwell Colliery branch to the shed. Walking time 5 minutes.
A concrete road (originally usd for opencast coal traffic) also leads to the shed from the left-hand side of the main road about one third of a mile from the station.

From Birmingham
Board a No. 75 (Wednesbury) bus in Colmore Row outside the main entrance to Snow Hill Station and alight at Wednesbury terminus. At this point board a Walsall Corporation bus proceeding to Walsall via Wood Green. Alight at St. Paul’s Road and proceed along this road. Continue along a cinder path, and the shed entrance is on the right hand side.

From Wolverhampton High Level Station
Go straight ahead outside Wolverhampton High Level Station along Railway Drive. Continue straight across the square at the end of Railway Drive into Lichfield Street. Turn right into Princes Square and proceed as stated below.
From Wolverhampton Low Level Station
Turn right outside Wolverhampton Low Level Station into the drive. turn left at the end of the drive into Wednesfield Road and continue along Broad Street to Princes Square. Turn right at Princes Square into Stafford Street and continue along Lower Stafford Street and Stafford Road. Turn right into Bushbury Lane. The shed entrance is a gate on the left-hand side just past the railway under bridge. Walking time 35 minutes, but a bus route (No. 33) runs from the town to the shed entrance.
Note.–Bushbury Lane is the second turning on the right past Stafford Road shed.
The shed is in the fork of the Aston Coventry and Aston New Street lines south of the station. The yard is visible from both lines.

Cross the yard outside Blackburn Station into Jubilee Street. Turn left into Darwen Street and fork right under the railway bridge into Great Bolton Street. Continue along Bolton Road for about 13 miles and turn left along a footpath opposite the Fernhurst Hotel. This leads across some fields and up a steep bank to the shed. Walking time 45 minutes.
The Fernhurst Hotel is on the main Blackburn to Darwen Road (A666) which carries a frequent bus service.
Central Shed
The shed is on the east side of the line south of Blackpool Central Station. The yard is visible from the line.
Turn left outside the Central Station, and left again along the Promenade. After going some distance turn left into Rigby Road. The shed entrance is on the right-hand side, just past the railway over-bridge. Walking time 20 minutes.
Board a southbound tram on The Promenade, and alight at Rigby Road. (The stop is known as the Manchester Hotel.)
North Shed
The shed is on the north side of the line east of Blackpool North Station. The shed yard is not visible from the line.
Turn right outside Blackpool North Station into Dickson Road and first right into Queen Street. Turn left into High Street and right into Pleasant Street. Bear left at the end of this street and turn right into Ashburton Road. A path runs between two blocks of houses on the right-hand side of this road to the shed (about 100 yards from the turning). Walking time 10 minutes.
The shed is on the west side of the line about a mile south of the station. The yard is partially visible from the line.
Turn left outside the station along Queen’s Terrace, and continue into Dock Street. Turn right into Station Road and left into Radcliffe Road. The shed entrance is on the left-hand side some distance further on (almost opposite Heathfield Road). Walking time 25 minutes.
